The couple shared a stage of a different sort this summer when they starred in "El Cantante," a biopic about legendary, but self-destructive, salsa singer Héctor Lavoe, who died in 1993. Anthony played Lavoe, while Lopez portrayed Lavoe's wife, Nilda "Puchi" Roman.

"They are both successful and that is what makes this a successful marriage ... they are both top in their fields, no one is depending on the other."

Lopez – whose production company, Nuyorican, produced the movie – had Anthony in mind for the role long before they came together personally. "I got this script five years ago," Lopez told Us Weekly recently. "Marc and I were not a couple at the time. But I knew that he was the one to play Héctor. I didn't even know that I would play Puchi, I just knew that it was the first movie that I wanted to produce."

While it can be notoriously hard for real-life couples to work together, Lopez told Us Weekly that acting with Anthony was a joy: "Everything was very comfortable with him. I'd rather be working with him than another actor because I can say anything to him."

For Anthony, playing the hard-living singer was a chance to pay homage to one of his musical heroes. "No one can sit there and tell me his music is less important than Ray Charles' or Johnny Cash's," Anthony told Billboard. "Héctor Lavoe had this intangible thing. If I were to introduce you to just his music, you would want to know the man. If I were to tell you this amazingly crazy story, you should want to hear his music. And when you have both, it's a story that needs to be told."

The soundtrack to the movie debuted at No. 1 on both Billboard's Top Latin Albums and Tropical Albums chart. The album's first single, "Mi Gente," was Anthony's 32nd entry on Billboard's Hot Latin Songs chart. The soundtrack is also the first album out on a new label Anthony has started through Sony BMG.

Long before they formed a mega-watt couple, Lopez and Anthony were both superstars in their own right. The fact that they are just as strong professionally apart as together is part of their appeal. "As individuals, they both have successful careers and that is what makes this a successful marriage as well," Cobo said. "They are both top in their fields, no one is depending on the other."

Indeed, there seems to be nothing that Lopez can't do, and, in the words of her current single, "Do It Well."

She first came into our homes as a dancing Fly Girl on "In Living Color." However, it was her role as the late Latin superstar Selena that caught everyone's attention. The part earned her a Golden Globe nomination and led to parts in films such as "An Unfinished Life," opposite Robert Redford and Morgan Freeman, "Maid in Manhattan" with Ralph Fiennes, the Oliver Stone-directed "U-Turn" and "Blood and Wine" with Jack Nicholson.
