A: A fantastic escape weekend starts with a scenic drive up the coast to Napa Valley followed by a day at the spa for rejuvenation. The next morning after a nice brunch, we do a day of wine tasting and then fine dining. After that, I can handle anything! |

A: Lake Arrowhead. It reminds me of a quaint village in the Swiss Alps. At Lake Arrowhead you can make snow angels for two hours, go ice-skating, eat a whole roll of Tollhouse Cookie dough as fast as you can, snuggle in front of the fireplace, and relax! |

A: I go to one of my favorite hotels and turn off my phone. Then I order room service and everything else I need to relax. It's awesome because physically, I'm still close to all of my family and friends, but mentally it feels like I'm a world away.

A: If time permits for a real vacation, I'll always head toward water, the clearer and warmer the better, so I can snorkel or scuba dive. I know of no better escape than to swim with the fishes, literally, but not in a "Godfather" sort of way. Barring that, a massage at a nice spa can seem like a complete break without having to wear a swimsuit or wetsuit in public. |

A: By far my favorite escape at the turn of the holidays is to go skiing. I love the drive from dry desert to snowy mountains. Skiing my days away when I get there in the beautiful scenery and fresh air is all I could ask for. |

A: We go to Lake Tahoe a lot with the kids, but sometimes just my wife and I. I love it up there because the pace is a little slower. And the beer is cold. Ice-cold beer, hot coffee and a slow pace are the trappings of my ideal escape. |
