Centex V At Lake Las Vegas |
Story by Kathy Espin The theme at Lake Las Vegas is Mediterranean and the centerpiece is the AAA five-diamond Ritz-Carlton hotel, fashioned after the Ponte Vecchio in Florence. Adjacent to the hotel is the MonteLago Village, a maze of Italian-style shops, boutiques, restaurants, art galleries, and the 40,000-square-foot Casino MonteLago. A nearby marina offers boats for hire, including two yachts. Across the lake, accessible by car or water taxi, is the AAA four-diamond Hyatt Regency with its own casino. Both hotels have elegant, full-service spas.
The resort includes 19 residential communities with four more under construction. Currently more than 900 people own homes or lots, which range in price from $300,000 to $4 million. Plans call for 4,500 homes to be built by 2015.
V IS FOR VERY EXCLUSIVE
In the Lake Las Vegas community, one developer is upping the ante with super-exclusive residences. Centex Destination Properties has built three communities in Lake Las Vegas and is now developing a fourth, V.
“It’s called V as in Vegas but when we started working with the theme we found just about everything started with a V,” said Chat Winn of Centex. As in Venice, da Vinci, village, and, most of all, vista. “It’s all about the view,” Winn said. The mixed-use community of custom homes, villas, town homes, and condos, will be built on the highest points on the north shore of Lake Las Vegas, providing spectacular views of Lake Las Vegas, Lake Mead and surrounding mountains.
Each exclusive neighborhood will be named after one of the masters of the Renaissance such as Raphael, Michelangelo and da Vinci. The crowning touch will be the multi-million dollar palazzos: estates resembling the palaces that belonged to the Medici family, the Italian royalty who lead the Renaissance.
“This is just a great place and time to do a neighborhood and resort with that theme. We felt the MonteLago Village gave Lake Las Vegas its heart and we feel our community will give it its soul.”
