It’s time for sweet memories
and gifts glazed with love.
Story By Mary - Ann Mayo
The holidays are just around
the corner and it’s time for
traditional tasks: shopping for
presents, lighting the candles, placing
the angel atop the tree, decking the halls,
preparing a festive feast, and of course
making room for decadent desserts.
During the holidays, desserts are
intended to entertain the eye and fulfill a
craving. Biting into each “ooh” and “aah”
confection is like unwrapping a present
you’ve been waiting for all year.
Dessert is a collective name for sweet dishes such as cakes, ice
cream, fruit, puddings, pastries, and pies. The word evolves from
French desservir, which means to remove the dishes or clear
the table. Originally ‘the dessert,’ implied fruit and sweetmeats,
either placed on the table after the meal, or served at a separate
table. The change in emphasis from the 18th-century French ‘dessert’
to the 20th-century assortment of sweet ‘desserts’ appears to have
taken place in North America. Dessert had a wider meaning for Americans;
no longer just limited to the aforementioned list, but expanding
to a medley of sugary delights.
New York-New York and Beau Rivage
invite you to create their personal
favorites such as Santa’s Irish Helper
Latte, Pumpkin Cheesecake and
Chocolate Bread Pudding.
It’s given that this toothsome line-up
is suitable for the last course of a
meal—naturally since the best is saved
for last. Home-made desserts provide an
irresistibly delicious way to mark your
special occasion.
So, go ahead and start your MGM MIRAGE tradition this year.
