The servers here are integrated into the scene, dancing for and among revelers, propelled more by smooth beauty and sharp attitudes, dousing the ambience with sleek femininity. The days of old acts like Sammy, Dean and Frank are long past, but lounges are hot and reaching out to find a Vegas flair that appeals to the hot, ultra crowd. Not surprisingly, their grasp has settled on hips and curves.

Just down the street, at MGM Grand, a different form of entertainment captures the crowd at Tabú. Three waitresses have just stepped up onto tables in the center of the club, and they’re striking a pose, transforming themselves from server to model and even bartender when called upon. “Boutique” is the theme for the evening and they’re modeling clothing created by designer Lior, hoisting themselves up on tables and striking a pose. Turn. Stare. Turn. Curl lip. On Wednesday evenings at Tabú, the waitresses arrive and have their make-up and hair professionally done, and change their outfits constantly throughout the evening—almost as much as the changing images on the sleek bar top, which alternates colors, textures and images as the night drifts on. Music purrs and sometimes pounces from the DJ’s booth, as the servers stare but don’t seem to actually notice the crowd gathered around them, dancing, drinking, kneading their way into a hot Las Vegas night. The night belongs to these women. And the crowd couldn’t surrender more.
