Story by Ed Main
Saturday—Day 4
The third knock from housekeeping
finally got the girls up. The bright
light beyond the drapes indicated
that the 3:00 on their clock was indeed
p.m. Changing into their bathing suits, they
made their way to the pool for a few hours,
returning for an hour-long cat nap. After
a refreshing shower, Rachel leafed through
the room copy of M lifestyle to see what the
hotel offered that night—flipping right past
a fresh copy of The List—and found an ad
for Teatro, the new, intimate Euro-bar at
MGM Grand.
A silver, spaceship-style venue stands
across from the new KÀ Theatre, near the
entrance of MGM’s Studio Walk. Housed
inside is the newest addition to MGM’s
nightclub offerings, Teatro.
Stepping up to the front of the ropes,
Rachel recognized one of the models from
the ad she saw in the magazine. The girls
mentioned they were from Chicago and
had been all over the city in search of the
best nightlife, Cat inquired, “You aren’t the
Chicago girls Natalia told me about are
you?” Indeed, the small town thing was a bit
surreal. Cat offered to get the girls a table
along the back wall inside the chic Teatro—
the best table in the house juxtaposed to the
DJ booth—and Ann Marie and Rachel were
again amazed by the hospitality they were
shown all over town.
At 11:30 p.m., the place began to fill up.
On the main wall were hundreds of video
screens in the shape of bottles, creating a
unique illusion. Protruding from the back
wall was a lighted stage where dancers
performed, paying particular attention
to the patrons around its perimeter. Soon
after they settled in, Cat brought Taylor
and Lauren, two girls from Mississippi,
over to the table. The foursome enjoyed
some hilarious stories as they sipped their
fabulous cocktails. When Rachel mentioned
an upcoming trip to Mississippi, Lauren
invited her to Beau Rivage, a hotel with the
two best nightspots.
Taylor said Club Tiki, infused with the
tropical vibe, was the only place to dance
to the best music under the stars…while
sipping exotic cocktails and watching the
seductive dancers perform on platforms
rising from the pool. Lauren said that
Eight75, the cool, new lounge at Beau
Rivage with the glowing
ceiling and fourtiered,
brightly lit,
glass bar was ideal
if you were looking
for an intimate,
sophisticated
night. Featuring
oversized
ottomans,
winding
booths,
comfortable
couches and draped
booths—complete with LCD
screen and directional speakers—for
complete privacy, you could lounge the hot,
summer nights away in style.
It was another memorable night in Vegas.
Sunday—Day 5
By 6:00 on Sunday morning, the
girls—exhausted but thrilled—sat in
the lobby at MGM Grand and laughed
as they scrolled through the images on their
camera phones. Rachel lamented losing
The List, wishing they could have referred
to it throughout the week and passed it on
to their friends who were going to Vegas.
A man sitting near them, flipping through
a magazine, looked over at the girls, “You
mean this list?” he asked as he held up the
copy of M lifestyle. |
