Get styled by the man who styles
the stars
By Amy Schmidt
The elevated pedicure “throne,” which features two small oval sinks, just large enough for your feet, with smooth stones scattered on the bottom to massage your feet while you soak, is where my ail technician, a Russian beauty named Lana, pampers my tootsies with products from OPI’s spa pedicure line, “the pros who know feet.” She scrubs and massages and files until my feet feel silky smooth—not always an easy task. But Lana doesn’t mind, “here, it’s like a holiday every day,” she says. “It’s always somebody’s birthday, somebody’s wedding.”
In fact, Cristophe caters to such celebrations. The salon offers a tremendous bridal package and if you’re in town with a gaggle of girlfriends, The After Hours Bachelorette Package is a perfect way to prep for a night of indulgence at one of the MGM Grand’s trendy hot spots—Tabú Ultra Lounge, Teatro Euro Bar, and Studio 54.
While Darcy, manager at Cristophe, cheerily shares all of the perks of Cristophe, Lana massages my feet into submission (no more rough spots!). Before I know it, I am whisked to my stylist’s chair, where Lawrence performs a scalp massage that almost makes me forget my own name. He did, however, make me forget my “no hair cut” rule.
While discussing the state of the local arts scene, Lawrence updated my bob into something slightly more chic with layers upon layers that were fashioned with nothing but a razor.
As I looked at his work in the mirror, I wondered how I was going to break the news to my regular stylist.
