SCOTT GUMMER, WRITER
Contribution: Wrote “Tiger Jams Mandalay Bay”
What is the best part about covering celebrities?
The best part is getting a glimpse into the minds
and motivations of people whose lives could not
be more different than my own.
Where is your favorite place to play golf?
Anywhere in Scotland, preferably with a pub just
off the 18th green.
What is your most useful personality trait when
going after the great interview?
Sincere curiosity. |

Contribution: Wrote “Night Out/Night In”
and “Bare”
What was the craziest job you ever had?
How did it prepare you for the life of a
freelance writer?
To supplement freelance life and keep
myself surrounded in rich stories, I’m a
Mary Kay lady. At our meetings, they dress
us up in boas and tiaras if we have high
sales. Seriously. Plus, freelance life creates
wrinkles. Mary Kay products battle them.
What is your definition of the perfect night?
The perfect night involves good food, good
wine, great conversation, and blushing at
least once. |

EILEEN BAILEY DRISCOLL, WRITER
Contribution: Wrote “Special
of the Day: VIP Treatment”
What is the biggest drawback
to being a food writer?
None, unless you count a few
extra pounds. I don’t!
What is the biggest perk?
Having a universal backstage
pass. That is, chefs sending over
what they know I’ll love best.
How many celebrity chefs
have you captured in print?
I’ve lost count…at least 150.
Wolfgang Puck and Paul
Prudhomme are my favorites.
They take their food seriously,
but never themselves. |

THEODORE MARIANTHAL, PHOTOGRAPHER
Contribution: Photographed swimsuits in
REVOLUTION LOUNGE at The Mirage.
What is the most important tool in your trade
aside from the camera?
The people I work with: a great stylist, makeup
artist and assistant. And, most of all, people who
understand me and my vision.
What is your favorite subject to shoot?
Fashion. I like to create drama with the lighting,
wardrobe and the expressions of the models. |

LENA KATZ, WRITER
Contribution: Wrote “A Sophisticated Spirit”
How’d you get your start?
I grew up in Sonoma County and used to go wine
tasting with my parents. They would leave me
outside and I would write up little reports on the
grounds, the vineyards, the snacks, etc.
What is the most common tequila myth?
That there’s a worm in the tequila bottle. If there’s
a worm in the bottle, it’s mezcal, not tequila. The
spirits are similar, but are made from different
kinds of agave, and in different regions.
What is the most extravagant bottle of wine you
have ever indulged in?
A beautiful, nectar-like dessert wine from a tiny
island in eastern Greece. The bottle itself is only
$5, but they don’t ship it, so you have to fly there
to get it, which brings the price to around $750.

EDGAR REVILLA, STYLIST
Contribution: Styled swimsuit shoot at
REVOULTION LOUNGE at The Mirage.
If you could dictate the future of fashion,
what would you love to see?
More new talent from places that Americans
never think of as fashion capitals such as Asia,
Latin America and Africa. We tend to focus on
designers from Europe and New York, which
are all fabulous, but I love to see what others
have to bring to the table.
What look do you wish would return?
The ’40s. It had a bit of everything: glam, color,
function, and hats!
What defines sexy?
Without a doubt, it’s ones attitude. |
