Story by Jack Sheehan
In line with the company's tradition of excellence, a world-renowned team of architects and visionaries has been
assembled to create this development, representing the most significant, privately financed project in the United States.
The iconic centerpiece of Project CityCenter will be a dramatic, soaring, hotel tower, casino and convention center
designed by world famous architectural firm, Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects. The sophisticated contemporary design will be
demonstrably different from any building that has preceded it and will contribute immeasurably to the breathtaking
Las Vegas skyline, while providing a rich variety of experiences at the street level.
Acting as the gateway to CityCenter will be the high-end, non-gaming hotels, which will bookend the development.
They will be operated by Mandarin Oriental and The Light Group, hoteliers not currently represented in Las Vegas.
Kohn Pedersen Fox will design the Mandarin Oriental and Foster and Partners will design Light Group hotel.
An inviting neighborhood of unique retail shops, dining and entertainment venues - featuring residential
storefronts, cafes, bars, galleries, jazz clubs, and more - will form the core of CityCenter's urban metropolis.
Resort residential designed by Rafael Vinoly and Murphy Jahn will create an urban complex that will forever
change the future of architecture and design in Las Vegas and set a new standard for urban development worldwide.
The entire project, which is expected to create, for the first time, a true center core in a city that has been
spreading its growth in every direction over the last quarter century, is larger than New York's Soho, Times Square
and Rockefeller Center combined.
The opening of Project CityCenter in the fourth quarter of 2009 will once again demonstrate that
MGM MIRAGE is the arbiter of taste and increased sophistication in Las Vegas. |
