Story by Jessica C. Villano
Bestowed with a dual parentage that
values precision and adornment,
Stefan Hafner's body of work reflects
the accuracy of the Swiss and the Italians'
love of beauty. Beginning his career with
his uncle, a manufacturer of Swiss watch
parts, Hafner went on to work for several
high-end watchmakers. It wasn't long before
his innate creativity emerged and Hafner
began to design his own watches. His
enamored customers requested pieces
to match, and Hafner's focus eventually
shifted exclusively to jewelry design. Today,
Stefan is considered one of the most prolific
jewelry designers in high-end fashion,
crafting an average of 300 new pieces a year.
After 40 years, Stefan Hafner's work
remains graceful and fluid. His ever-evolving
style responds to the desires of women
while defying categorization. These designs,
which are featured in the world's most
esteemed jewelry showcases, range in style
from clean lines with a minimalist ethic
to the intricate and detailed and almost
always feature the perennial favorite, the
diamond. Named the Best Jewelry Designer
in 2001 by the prestigious Robb Report,
winner of "A Diamond Is Forever Right
Hand Ring Design" award and 10 Couture
Fine Jewelry awards, Stefan Hafner has
devotees around the globe. |
