The stakes were high. The players were famous. The charity was worthy.
The
Bravo Channel’s Celebrity Poker Showdown has nothing on
the action that took place at the tables inside the Esquire House
in Beverly Hills on September 16th, where a star-studded roster of
amateurs took on some of the best poker players in the world in a
memorable 10-table tournament.
Instead of playing against each other, such celebs as Mark Wahlberg,
Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire and Jennifer Tilly were pitted against
20 poker pros, including Doyle Brunson, Phil Ivey, Chip Reese, Barry
Greenstein and Johnny Chan, to name a few.
Sponsored by Bvlgari and Esquire magazine, the charity poker tournament
benefited the Las Vegas-based Keep Memory Alive Foundation, which
raises critical research dollars and public awareness for Alzheimer’s.
