Take A Tour (and Get Some Tips) With Sportswriter
Scott Gummer
Point spreads too confusing? Never fear, the Money Line card is
here—and only in Las Vegas. Forget the points, just pick the
winners and sit back and enjoy the show. “You pay ten bucks
to go to a movie that lasts an hour and a half, and if you like the
movie or not you are out your $10,” says Walker. “But
come to the sports book, play ten bucks on a game that lasts three
hours, and if your team wins, not only are you not out your $10,
you make money! Relatively speaking, the sports book is a cheap form
of entertainment.”
Women are not only welcome in the sports book, they represent nearly
half of the clientele. “The ratio today runs roughly 60/40
men-to-women,” says Walker. “More and more women come,
stay and play. They are no longer just asking questions for their
intimidated husbands and boyfriends.”
This could ignite a trend in marriage counseling: sports book couples
therapy. After all, the family that plays together, stays together.
